Step-by-Step Arrivals Process

Disembark & Walk to Terminal
Usually a short walk from the aircraft to the single terminal building. No jetbridge — you walk on the tarmac.2
Health Check (Yellow Card)
Inspectors check your International Vaccination Certificate (yellow fever). Have it accessible — not buried in your bag.3
Immigration / Passport Control
Single queue for all nationalities. Visa on arrival available here ($80 for most nationalities, USD cash only). Have 2 passport photos ready.4
Baggage Claim
Small single belt. Wait time typically 20–40 minutes. Keep your baggage claim tag — exit staff check it.5
Customs
Most travellers pass through without checks. Business equipment and large quantities of cash (over $10,000) must be declared.6
Exit to Arrivals Hall
You exit onto the main road. Immediately opposite the terminal: Hariom Yogi Guest House. SIM card sellers, money changers and transport agents are immediately outside.Common scam: "Helpers" inside and outside the terminal will offer to carry bags, change money or arrange transport at inflated prices. Use only known operators — WhatsApp SaloneKart in advance to arrange pickup.

After Arrival: Your First Hour
- Buy an Africell SIM (passport required for registration) — costs ~NL 5,000 (~$0.22)
- Exchange some USD to New Leones for local transport and food — SaloneKart Forex Desk is opposite the terminal
- If arriving at night, stay at Yogi Guest House — the ferry stops at 10pm
- If continuing to Freetown in daytime, take the government ferry from Tagrin ferry terminal (15 min drive from airport)
Hotels Near Lungi Airport
